On display will also be selected portraits from the Student Photo Project. The Student Photo Project is a new work of art commissioned by Student Academic Affairs featuring the students of UCSF.
Designed by San Francisco artist Julie Berlin, a three-column art installation is being created to welcome you to UCSF and to honor new students, the future pillars of the medical community and community at large. The art installation will display the portraits of new students across the university and from all schools—both professional and graduate divisions.

Introducing… The Student Photo Project!
For the first time ever, Student Academic Affairs has commissioned a work of art featuring the students of UCSF. Designed by San Francisco artist Julie Berlin, a three-column art installation is being created to welcome you to UCSF and to honor you, the students, the future pillars of the medical community and community at large.
The six-foot columns (18 inches in diameter) will incorporate photographs of students printed on a background of the three primary colors, red, yellow and blue, evoking the concept of that which is “primary” – the students of UCSF.
Throughout 2010, the installation will travel from campus to campus, visiting and being visited by UCSF all community members. The columns will foster connection within the UCSF community as its members get to know each other a little better.
To make this project successful, we need the help of all UCSF students.
We need your photo taken and sent to us so we can incorporate your image into the art.
We also need student photographers to help us gather high quality and FUN headshots of all your student friends.
SEE photos of you and your friends on display!
MEET each other and let the UCSF community welcome you!
Enjoy this crazy life while you live it – BE ON A COLUMN!!
